Staying Motivated with BodyMedia FIT

When I decided not to follow a crazy strict liquid diet, I also decided that I needed to be more aware of what I was eating and make more of an attempt to up the quantity and quality of my fitness. In order to really meet those goals, I knew I needed to get better at tracking them. Enter the BodyMedia FIT.

Me sporting my BodyMedia Link

The BodyMedia FIT is a little gadget you can wear on an armband during the day (and at night since it measures sleep). In addition to your sleep, it tracks activity (breaking it down by vigorous and moderate), steps taken, and calories burned. I was a little worried that the band would drive me nuts or would be too small for my arm, but it was surprisingly comfortable. And for the fashionistas, you can order skins and armbands to accessorize your light gray armband!

BodyMedia FIT iPhone App

I was surprised to see the number of steps I took, especially since I work from home and don’t even have to walk to the car some days!  I really liked being able to see the calories my body burned just existing and breathing. I got the LINK Armband, because as the name implies, you can link it by Bluetooth to your iPhone and download the BodyMedia app  to see your stats in real-time, or log your latest meal.  When I’m done for the day, I can plug it in to my laptop to charge and sync with the Activity Manager, which is like the app on steroids.

I love seeing all the stats and having access on my phone and my computer. I was already working to log my food everyday, and it’s nice to be able to track both diet and exercise in the same place. The added accountability has been a huge bonus for me – especially that little calorie deficit (sometimes surplus) number!

BodyMedia FIT

While researching the different fitness gadgets, I found that both Jillian Michaels and Jenny Craig use the BodyMedia FIT, so they had me at hello.  If you’re interested, you can get your own here. There are a couple different models and subscription options depending on what you’re looking for. Let me know if you get any fun accessories…I’m eyeing the pink armband and the zig zag teal, pink, and grey skin!

**I was provided a BodyMedia Armband to review, but all of the opinions expressed are entirely my own.**
