I went shopping with a friend over the weekend who had decided her wardrobe needed a little bit of a shakeup – new years does that to a lot of us. Like most of us, she was on a limited budget, so the key to our shopping trip was to find affordable pieces that she could mix and match to create a ton of different looks.
We started with a dress. It’s the ultimate in easy and affordable dressing since it’s an entire outfit in one piece. We found a fun pink lace dress for her, and I found a similar style in the Just Like Heaven Curvy Plus dress available in plus sizes on Ruche for only $45!
The first look is one that would be great for daytime or weekends. It’s casual yet polished with a little bit of country western flare.
American Eagle Ikat Scarf $25
Ankle Western Booties $33
Old Navy Plus Denim Jacket $38
Poppie Jones Mini Fringe Bag $27
Old Navy Plus Leather Belt $20
For a professional, more lady-like look for work or family gatherings, I went for a black and pink color scheme.
Old Navy Plus Size Cardigan $20
Banana Republic Gold Necklace $35
Depending on your budget and style, you can keep the scarf or do a necklace. They look equally great!
Black Madden Girl Wedges $40
Solo Laptop Tote $45
Finally, I put together a modern look for a date night or night out with the girls. I love that it’s got just a little bit of edge to it.
This can be a day to night look, just skip the accessories and carry the black tote above.
Maurices Plus Open Front Blazer $39
Portia Boot $42
Lane Bryant Plus Belt $15
White House Black Market Leopard Clutch $50
Silver Fringe Earrings $6
Belle Noel Silver Ring $75
I made budget pickets for certain items that were a little trendier, but for the items that are going to get a ton of use or have a little bit more staying power, you’ll save money in the long run by choosing quality over quantity. Another great thing about many of these pieces is that they can go across seasons and occasions, making them worth a higher price point too. I’ll be sure to add some of these pieces in future outfits so you can really get a feel for just how much they can be mixed and matched!

Super cute! I love all of the outfit alternatives.
Thanks Deanna! Trying to spice up my wardrobe for 2013
